Creative pedagogy working with young children’s experiences in the local built environment
This session explores how pedagogy can respond creatively with children's experiences of the built environment. It presents collaborative research with children, families, and nursery practitioners in 2023 on the Alton West Estate, one of the UK's largest council housing estates. Highlights include 1) how children navigate and identify who shares the space 2) how to find play close to home, and 3) what to do about rubbish and smells.

Exploring creative pedagogical practices in education and the impact on students learning especially their agency, autonomy and disposition for learning. It also explores interconnected features that exemplify creative pedagogies and the complexities of embracing these educational strategies.
