‘I can do it myself’: Exploring children’s agency in early childhood education
In this session we will explore the importance of children’s agency and the crucial role of the educator, the environment and the curriculum in enabling and nurturing this agency. Drawing on academic research, international guidance and personal experiences this session will reflect on how supporting and enabling agency can respect children’s rights, form a bedrock for wellbeing, and support the characteristics of effective learning.
Toddler Wellbeing Project (ToWe): Enhancing the Education and Wellbeing of Disadvantaged Toddlers through the Development of Training and Materials
The session will introduce the delegates to the Toddler Wellbeing Project materials and tools. It will introduce wellbeing and the different dimensions of wellbeing the project addressed. It will identify the strategies that the setting partners within the project developed to support toddlers’ wellbeing and the impact of this has had on their early years practitioners and teachers.
