Breaking down barriers for neurodivergent children

Saturday, February 4, 2023 10:00 - 11:00

Exploring how we can shift the narrative from awareness to acceptance of neurodiversity within early years settings as a starting point to breaking down barriers. We will be discussing the importance of the 3 C’s of Connection, Consideration and Consistency in providing environments where every child can feel emotionally safe, heard, understood and celebrated for the unique person they are.

Key takeaways:
• Changing the narrative in early years within the neurodiversity paradigm

• Enabling all children’s fundamental needs to be met through positive connections

• Entering a child’s world through play and positive interaction, allowing children to be their true authentic self

• Understanding the impact of the sensory environment on emotions, behaviour and learning, and how we can reduce a child’s stressors
