The University of Chester traces its roots back to one of the earliest training colleges in the country, beginning the training of teachers in 1839. We offer PGCEs in Early Years, Primary and Secondary subjects as well as Early Years Initial Teacher Training (EYITT).
The Faculty of Education and Children’s Services was recently awarded 'Outstanding' status by Ofsted, for its secondary programmes and all 3-7 and 5-11 primary/primary-early years’ programmes. (Ofsted Report 2016).
The Faculty also provides the foundations for those wanting to work in the children’s wider workforce. We offer undergraduate programmes in Early Childhood Studies, Childhood and Youth Professional Studies and a suite of Education Studies programmes with various specialisms. A range of postgraduate programmes are offered to allow students to develop their knowledge and expertise further and enhance their employability.
